TOMS, the canvas slip-ons modeled after Argentina's alpargatas, has achieved record popularity since the company launched its first collection a mere two years ago. This isn't necessarily because the shoes are super comfortable, brightly colored and the go-to summer shoe for in-the-know hipsters.
